"Ah don't give me that crap, they're just lazy" Jason said. "If they left their damned cell phones at home they'd be able to concentrate."
Jason is a black and white sort of guy. If a scene doesn't conform to what he thinks, he instantly dismisses it, and frankly anybody associated with it. Sadly forJason most people are far too polite to let him see he's offended them so he doesn't realise the cost of this behaviour.
To be able to teach a wider range of workers a better way, Jason first has to accept their current behaviour, then he will be able to influence change.
If he doesn't accept what is, Jason can only set up an adversarial situation. His team can only ever respond by being 'bigger' than Jason and assuming a leadership role, or by being defensive. Either way it doesn't serve Jason particularly well in his business. Understanding this is the key to Jason's long term self motivation.
